Worship God or Not?

Season of Lenten is so special for us humans. For a week, we reminisce and recall in many ways the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ hath done for us, not because it’s His duty, but because He loves us so much.

It’s nice to know that we have a good God, a Father who always stays on our side, though most of the time we broke His heart by committing sins, and transgressing His commandments. Knowing that our nature as a human is sinner, He still let us live in this earth, and most touchingly, He sent His only Son to die on the cross of Calvary, to redeem us from all unrighteousness. So the question is, was it a valid reason now for us to worship God? Our answers may vary, but let me share to you some great things about worshiping God.

Your problems seem smaller. When your focus is on the Lord and not on yourself, you'll realize that your problems aren't quite as big as you thought they were. God is God. He can handle anything, including your current crisis.

You're joy-filled when you're praising God. You won't be able to stop bubbling over with enthusiasm when you're singing praises to the Lord.

You get a picture of God's greatness. If you start looking for ways God is impacting your life, you'll see and be amazed at how rich and full the Lord is making your life. Remember, without Him, you're nothing.

You gain a greater appreciation for all He's provided. It's simple. He's the one who gives you food to eat, water to drink, and a place to stay. Because everything --  flowering fields, towering trees, the sea -- everything on earth is His. And God shares it with you.

You get to know God better and better. The more time you spend with God, the closer your relationship with Him will become, and the more you'll begin to grasp who God is.

You gain a desire to share Him with others. David wrote, "Sing to the Lord, praise his name, proclaim his salvation day after day" (Psalm 96:2). When you sing to the Lord, praise His name, and declare His glory, it will put inside you a desire to tell others about Him.

You're in God's will while you're worshiping Him. Part of worshiping God is talking to Him, praying to Him. First John 5:14, 15 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears is -- whatever we ask -- we know that we have what we asked of Him."

You are fulfilling God's longing for your worship. Exodus 20:3,4 explains that God loves us. He longs for us to choose Him as our only God. And for that reason, He desires our worship.

You build up an incredible desire to follow God. As you worship you'll discover that your life is God's and you'll want to go wherever He leads you.

You'll experience God's abiding presence. You'll feel Him right beside you. And nothing is more thrilling than walking hand in hand with God -- not the biggest, fastest roller-coaster ride, not climbing Mount Everest, not anything. And when you worship God, you'll feel Him pouring His strength and power into you.

After reading the article, does your point of view changed? If so, I hope it's for better and according to God's will, and not the other way around.
